Thanks for that. Will use the embedded video link as suggested where applicable 🙂 This also solves the third part of the question in regards to videos uploaded to my media folder (which was a backup solution to the embedded video link issue), so no follow up needed on that one.

However, the option to be able to turn off this feature in a post would certainly be handy, as I am sure I am not the only one who is posting a mixture of articles both with and without featured videos. Look forward to the theme update!

    Kind regards,

Thanks for that – I do have another question.. I am using the video blog theme. On this theme, all posts have a field to add a video url, which becomes a pop up link from the featured image on the Home Page or category blog pages of the site. I have a couple of points & questions:-

    1. Can this feature be turned off by default if no link is entered in the “Post Video Settings” url field? Not every post I have on the site is going to have a video associated with it, and it becomes confusing for site users if each post has a video play icon and pop up link over the featured image even if there is no link to be played (at the moment even without a link it still shows a “play” icon over the featured image and simply opens a blank popup window if clicked by site visitors).

    2. Secondly, I have tried this with youtube links for some of the videos I have, but it appears that the feature does not embed the youtube video into the popup window (the error appears “www.youtube.com refused to connect” in the popup window

Lastly, I have uploaded a few short videos into my media folder and have experimented with linking to those using the Post Video Setting url field which does work, but seems to be a little buggy – and also uses up a lot of space and bandwidth on my own web hosting server, where a youtube link would be far more economical (if it worked)

I guess at the end of the day, I need two issues resolved regarding the Post Video Settings field:-
    1. It needs to work with youtube links
    2. It needs to be “turned off” as a pop up link if no url is entered in this field on a post.

    Be interested in your thoughts!

    Kind regards,

Actually, don’t worry – I have found what I was missing. All fixed – I was not allocating the correct template (under “page attributes”) when adding & posting pages. Am now allocating the correct template to have the sidebar appear. All good. Knew it was something simple!! 🙂
