How to reduce logo size in header without deformation?

I have recently bought VW Feminie Theme Pro and want to personalize it. If I insert the logo in big size (header), it looks fine. If I want to reduce its size – I tried png and jpg formats – it looks “squeezed”: ellypse instead of round in my case. What can I do to improve? THANKS
