    Hi!
I tried to translate the VW Corporate Pro Theme into canadian french. I work by priorities.

First on https://www.francogenie.ca/viser-le-sobre-en-carbone-cest-payant-un-survol-des-projets-menes-par-lindustrie/ the Previous and Next buttons for navigating in articles.
    Previous = Précédent
    Next = Siuvant

Second the search area on the right sidebar on this page https://www.francogenie.ca/actualites/
    Search… = Chercher…
    Search = Chercher

I copied and pasted the language folder into my “francogenie” subtheme like this:
    francogenie/languages/readme.txt
    francogenie/languages/vw-corporate-pro.pot

And from the original vw-corporate-pro.pot file I duplicated to 3 files fr_CA.mo fr_CA.po fr_CA.pot with some strings translated.
    Here there are:
    #: image.php:39
    msgid “<span class=\”meta-nav\”>←</span> Previous”
    msgstr “<span class=\”meta-nav\”>←</span> Précédent”

    #: image.php:40
    msgid “Next <span class=\”meta-nav\”>→</span>”
    msgstr “Suivant <span class=\”meta-nav\”>→</span>”

    #: search.php:15
    #, php-format
    msgid “Search Results for: %s”
msgstr “Résultats de la recherche pour : %s”

I did not find the “Search…” and “Search” words.

The files are organized like this:
    francogenie/languages/readme.txt
    francogenie/languages/fr_CA.mo
    francogenie/languages/fr_CA.po
    francogenie/languages/fr_CA.pot
    francogenie/languages/vw-corporate-pro.pot

But as you will visit the 2 pages quoted above, the translation are not taken into account.

Is the Pro theme translation ready?
    What am I missing out?

    Thanks for your help.

    Best regards,
    Cédric

    Hi,

Which Search you are referring to?

While creating a pot file you need to give the exact line number.

Also, do not add “<span class=\”meta-nav\”>←</span>” only add the text for example “Previous”

If you have any other question please let us.

    Thank You

    Hi!

    Thanks for your reply.

I am talking about the Search box (widget) inside the right side bar here : https://www.francogenie.ca/actualites/
I did not add span tag but just translated the text from the francogenie/languages/vw-corporate-pro.pot

Here is the content of the original francogenie/languages/vw-corporate-pro.pot file:
    #: image.php:39
    msgid “<span class=\”meta-nav\”>←</span> Previous”
    msgstr “”

So I created a copy name francogenie/languages/fr_CA.pot file with the french translation:
    #: image.php:39
    msgid “<span class=\”meta-nav\”>←</span> Previous”
    msgstr “<span class=\”meta-nav\”>←</span> Précédent”

Is the VW Corporate Pro translated ready?
Is that the right way to proceed? I already translated themes and it was but with .po files.

    Best regards,
    Cédric

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply!

Have You created the “.po” and “.mo” file for it?

The Search which you have mentioned is present in the searchform.php in the themes folder.

The theme is ready but you need to create the files we have mentioned.

If you need some other help please let us know.

    Thank you

    Hi!

As written above, the files are organized like this:
    francogenie/languages/readme.txt
    francogenie/languages/fr_CA.mo
    francogenie/languages/fr_CA.po
    francogenie/languages/fr_CA.pot
    francogenie/languages/vw-corporate-pro.pot

But the translation set into all these files does not appear in the webpage.

    Best regards,
    Cédric
