Awesome Screenshots issue

I’m struggling with adding/changing the number of Awesome Screenshots under Customize Theme > Theme Settings. When I increase the number of existing screenshots from 2 o 3 or 3 to 4 by inputting the desired number or using the number scroll feature, no new image placeholder is added.
Occassionally, it works but is really fighting me lately. I think the last time it worked, I logged out after being unable to add a screenshot, but the new image placeholder was there next time I logged in and went to try again.
I don’t think I’m going about it incorrectly, but maybe so. If not that, is this is a known bug or some issue with caching, PHP version, etc.?

Well, it’s what I said in my original post. When I try to add an image under Awesome Screenshots on the home page, using this theme, no new add-image button appears to let me insert an image from my WP media library.
It usually doesn’t work as it should of late but, as I say, occasionally it does work. I believe once I increased the image or screenshot count by one, and saved the new setting, but didn’t see the corresponding increase in image buttons. However, when I logged back in later, the new button appeared, allowing me to add the new screenshot.
Seems buggy.

No, it’s the Awesome Screenshots setting, as I say. For this theme, it controls the number of screenshot images (of an app) to show on your home page.
